Ludjain Ali Waheed was born in Male Maldives in 1993. From an early age, following his big brothers’ footsteps he demonstrated an inherited artistic talent and continued to bring his creative passion to fruition. He continued his passion for art in school with art stream starting from primary. After a gap of several years, he rejoiced back in around 2018.
Ludjains artworks are enthused by the renowned artist Andrew Myers. Ludjains idiosyncratic personal style springs joy and peace as he finds the utmost joy and satisfaction working on them. His work expresses the vibrant spirit and warmth of the Maldivian seas. Ludjains work with screws are fine and a commendable form of art. He creates sculptures from thousands and thousands of screws and bring life to his distinctive and realistic pieces by combining oil paint and acrylics with several months of hard work and patience. They are a testimony to craft, strength, and creativity. Up close, they look like a topography map made up of rolling hills and valleys, but from any distance, the stunning photo-realistic portraits take shape. Just like his artwork in UV2020 named ‘survival’.
Ludjain’s family and friends have always supported and stood with him all along. He looks forward to have a stable carrier as an artist in Maldives with a decent income but it is not possible at the moment as Maldives does not have a scope for it.
Ludjain recently received the most vibrant artist of the year from mix media category in UV2020. He also looks forward to portray his talent in exhibitions more often and wishes to have solo exhibition by next year. Through his paintings, we experience our sea life with a new expansive and in a compelling perspective as he dreams to have his work displayed in one of the restaurants in male’ and every single resort in the Maldives. He creates awareness about our delicate, beautiful marine life to create a safer environment and a better future.
