Paintings which come to life-Mohammed Hammadh

Mohammed Hammadh is a professional artists born in Adh.Mahibadhoo. Starting from his childhood, Hammadh always used to enjoy art but got more involved in art by doing sketches after moving to India for further studies. After a period of time, he started painting with oil paint which led him to paint more and more. Hammadh took art as a career after getting a job opportunity to work as an artist in Bandos Island Resort in 2015.

Souvenir art being a major career for artists in Maldives, Hammads focal point is also Souvenir art as it is the best way to gain income for artist. Despite the huge competition for souvenir art, he never took a step back in the field. Hammadh believes that the competitors are the biggest reason for him grow as an artist and makes him more enthusiastic and passionate.

Hammadh focuses on thinking and deciding a concept for the artworks when preparing for an art competition. Oil portrait art being his specialty, he tries to take a unique picture and highlights the concept before every competition. Hammadh consider that every picture explains a different story. While he participates in various competitions, he won the “most vibrant artist of the exhibition 2018” from Unveiling Visions 2018 and won the first place in “Minivan Fihi” 2021 and was extremely delighted for it. He could not thank enough for the endless support given by his family and friends.

COVID 19 pandemic was a distressing time period for everyone but Hammadh was able to survive through it by the orders he received from the social media. While Hammadh takes art as his career, his art shop business is also a blooming business. He also believes that art is a good field to go ahead in Maldives and a person can also get good income from it as well. On the same note, he also thinks that artists do not get plenty of opportunities in Maldives.

“Forshah” being his first solo exhibition, he does not have proposal for a solo exhibition at the moment, however he would really love to have a solo exhibition if he gets that opportunity. Hammadh mainly prefers solo exhibitions where he can showcase his talent on doing paintings using different materials and techniques.

Hammadhs goal is to become one of the best and refined artists. His advice for the young, upcoming artists is that to “never give up until you reach your goal”. His landscape paintings and portraits are a masterpiece indeed.

MAC being the largest platform for artists in the Maldives, Hammdhs thoughts on MAC does not differ an inch and believes that MAC is the reason for most of the opportunity’s artist get in the Maldives.
