She is a visual artist from Maldives. She is currently working as an art and design teacher at Ghiyasuddin International School. She completed Master in Fine Art in 2012 from Pakistan. She has great interest in painting and sculpting. Her work is mostly about transformations and how things fleet with time. Her inspirations are mostly from the surrounding nature. For her, nature is full of transforming forms – where death is followed by birth and vise versa, it keeps on reproducing and metamorphosing. In her work, she often talks about her childhood and its association with nature in sensitive ways. The admiration is endless and what nature has to offer is priceless. After a life changing experience, her work has evolved into calligraphy art inspired by the Holy Quran. Although her new passion is in calligraphy, she still loves working as a sculptor for she loves dwelling in different dimensions and paradigms. Maimoona is also a co-founder member working as the Vice Chairperson of Maldivian Artist Community-MAC.
