Noara Nanni
Noorath Rasheed, better known as Noara, is an up-and-coming Maldivian calligraphy artist with mastery in the art of Thuluth and Kufic. Currently she is based in Malaysia, where she practices other contemporary Arabic calligraphy and minimalistic art. Noara drew inspiration from the works of Mr. Diaa Allam and soon after had the opportunity to learn from experts in the field, notably Mr. Hassan Yusuf Salman Zuhaira, Mr. Abdul Azizz Al Rashedi and Mr. Omar Uddin. However, her love for art grew at a young age through her father who enjoys a flourishing career in art and craft. Noara follows strictly the rules and guidelines for the scripts she mastered and pays particular attention to detail from the smallest stroke of the qalam to choosing the right materials. She prefers ‘Muqahar’, a specialised handmade paper for arabic calligraphy. Her dedication and passion paid off with her first commissioned work for the esteemed company, Mahajati, which she believes to be her greatest achievement to date. ‘Unveiling Visions- 2020’ by Maldivian Artists Community is the first of many exhibitions she wishes to partake in.
